Blogging Event: Triple Play!

I was talking with my friend Laura recently about food.  This happens frequently.  Laura is a beautiful woman, a very creative soul and an excellent cook.  We were discussing some of our favorite flavors, what she termed the "Holy Trinity" of food: cardamom, pistachio and rosewater.  Each flavor by itself is a delight, a little piece of culinary joy.  Together, they enhance each other's flavors that makes the end product even better than the components.  I don't remember exactly what was said, but I believe that it was Laura who thought it might be fun to have a contest to see who can come up with the best combination of the three.  I thought, a contest would be kind of a pain, and involve prizes that would be difficult to ship.  A regular old blogging event, though, with a roundup at the end, might be a lot of fun and give us some very interesting results.  Plus, a blogging event would allow us to repeat the challenge with different combinations of flavors.

So without further ado, here are the rules.

  1. Prepare a dish that includes ALL THREE of the key ingredients - in this case, pistachios, rosewater and cardamom.
  2. Blog about your dish, preferably including the recipe, between the date the ingredients are announced and the last day of the month - in this case, the 31st of May.
  3. Email me using my brand-spanking-new dedicated Fearless Kitchen email (fearlesskitchen@gmail.com) to let me know you want in.  Your email must contain:
    • Your name, or whatever name you're choosing to use.
    • Your approximate location.  I don't need your home address or what room you're in.  If you have map coordinates you can go ahead and list them, but I will ignore them.  City, state/province and country will suffice.
    • The name of your blog.
    • A link to the post you're submitting.
    • A photo of your dish is nice, but not mandatory.
  4. If you don't have a blog, you can still get involved.  Just let me know, and write up a blurb about your dish instead of posting a link.  But you should really think about starting a blog of your own.  It's fun.  :)

That's really it.  Laura and I will read the submissions, and we'll post a roundup within a reasonable time from the end of the month.  Our definition of reasonable will vary with our personal commitments and the volume of entries received.  We will announce the next trio of flavors sometime near the time we post the roundup.  If you have any suggestions for what some future combinations should be, please email me at fearlesskitchen@gmail.com

Thanks, Mansi! I hope to see your entry, if not this round then the next.

And I had just seen the posting for your event on ismyblogburning.com. As it just so happens, I'm planning a dinner party for the weekend, and need to come up with some hors d'oeuvres anyway. Coincidence? Thanks for pointing it out to me.

May I triple play too?
Thing is, I baked and posted my recipe on the 2nd of May. Is that okay?
No worries, if it's not. Because I'm definitely in on your next triple play date.

Dee,

It shouldn't be a problem - I dithered about posting this, it should have been posted before May 2.

My email to you was just returned for some reason. I'll try again; fingers crossed.
